This home is located in a private exclusive area in Palm Beach, Florida. Upon initially arriving at the property, I was greeted by a beautiful contemporary all-glass entryway. But, once inside, I was shocked to see that the décor looked like an old Mediterranean style with heavy swag drapes and overstuffed furniture. The client had purchased a model home already furnished and she expressed to me that the home did not represent her taste and she wanted a more contemporary feel.
I wanted to bring the outside into this home as it was built around a beautiful pool area, lushly landscaped, including lots of windows, floor-to-ceiling on poolside. So, I removed the heavy drapery that was plaguing the home. I created a coffee table made up of nine glass with chrome bunching tables that would reflect the outside. I had a customed designed couch made of a beautiful glistening silver fabric. I placed chairs that had a rectangle dark wood design on the back that was repeated in the tall frames of the windows, element repetition is a trademark of mine. At the living room bar, I added a crescent-shaped glass top that was the color of the pool water outside. The original ceiling in the family room was drywall beams and I changed them into wood panted beams with contrasting paneling in the recessed area to mimic the stone floor pattern. I custom designed the entertainment area to fit perfectly and be surrounded by the glass windows. The family room has a more relaxed atmosphere than that of the formal living room and being that the owners are boaters I brought in some coastal flair with navy blue fabric. Her office was designed especially for her and the views that would inspire her.
